We are looking for an experienced Host or Hostess to join our team and be the first point of contact for our guests.
Host/Hostess responsibilities include greeting guests, providing accurate wait times, and escorting customers to the dining and bar areas. For this role, you should have solid organizational and people skills to ensure our guests have a positive dining experience from the moment they arrive until their departure.
Ultimately, you will ensure we provide excellent customer service and a pleasant dining experience to our guests.
Responsibilities:
- Greet incoming and departing guests warmly with a genuine smile and eye contact; escort them to assigned dining area; present menus; announce waiter's name.
- Use the Open Table app to seat guests in either the restaurant or patio dining area depending on their preference.
- Assign tables to guests depending on party size, and server availability.
- Inform guests of current promotions and who will be serving them to ensure a smooth handoff to the service staff.
- Answer patron questions in person or on the phone regarding menu items; recommend or suggest items as needed.
- Manage the flow of guests into the dining, patio, and bar areas, and provide accurate wait times to incoming guests if appropriate.
- Tend to special guest needs and requests.
- Observant to guests' needs throughout the dining experience to ensure they receive high-quality service (i.e., noticing that a table has not been greeted, greeting them with water, and finding their server).
- Protect establishments and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol control policies.
- Help dining room staff by setting and clearing tables; replenishing water; and serving beverages.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High school degree or equivalent; or relevant work experience.
- 1 yr. + Experience in a full-service restaurant preferred.
- Ability to assist guests and possess great guest relations skills.
- Ability to articulate clear greetings and farewells to guests, as well as be able to understand requests for assistance.
- Ability to clearly communicate guests' needs to servers, bussers, managers, etc.
- Ability to effectively communicate on the telephone.
- Ability to stand/walk and stay focused and alert for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, and wipe.
- A desire to help where needed and work as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts (days, nights, weekends, and some holidays).
- Must be upbeat, outgoing, and positive.
- Ability to work positively and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
